PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Introduction

The Transition Program under non-residential program focuses on empowering young individuals from Child Care Institutions (CCIs) and supporting women through structured initiatives aimed at work readiness and overall well-being. The primary purpose of the grant is to bridge the gap between institutional care and independent living, equipping participants with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to navigate adulthood successfully.

This program focuses with two key components:

    1. Early Transition at CCIs Online: This component targeted 10 CCIs in Bengaluru, engaging 150 children aged 16–18. The objective was to provide structured support through exposure visits, workshops, skill-building sessions, and counselling to prepare them for life beyond institutional care.

    1. Early Transition at CCIs – Offline : Resources were allocated to facilitate workshops, organize exposure visits, and skilling opportunities. These activities focused on building financial literacy, career readiness, legal identity documentation, and emotional resilience for the youth.

Outcome Of The Offline Transition

A transition module aims to empower care leavers by educating them about career options, education, Financial management, banking services, and legal documents. It includes workshops and exposures to help young people understand day to day interactions with these services. The program will be held from April to September 2023-24, with sessions in Bengaluru and Chennai. Each session lasts 10 days and involves career counselling, work readiness, and visits to educational and professional institutions. Designed for 16 to 18-year-olds. Program Objective to achieve

    1. Work Readiness:
      o Equip participants with financial literacy, career guidance, and exposure to workplace dynamics.
      o Exposure visit understand training, skilling opportunities, and higher education.
      o Assist in securing essential legal documents such as Aadhar and PAN cards for financial and legal independence.
    2. Enabling Interpersonal and communication skills:
      o Create opportunities for recreational and social engagement for sense of community and belonging.
    3. Independent Living Skills:
      o Enhance practical life skills such as banking, Budget Planning, and navigating government services.

Post Office Visit

Understand how postal services, postal baking service and basic necessary of services.

Bank Visit

Explore Banking service like ATM withdrawal, online transition, saving tools and key practiced for different form.

Financial Literacy Workshop

Learned about budget planning ,Saving & Investment, Growing money through compounding and SIP investment.

Career Counseling Workshop

Understand about career & skills aspirations after 18 and increased motivation to pursue education or training.

Public Sector Career Workshop

Understand about career aspiration in government sector after 18. Knowledge building on public sector exams

Skill Centres Visit

Youth explore technical and vocational training opportunities.

Legal Identity Workshop

Youth understand & build the knowledge around Legal identity documentation and how to handle if it needed to change, update and edit and benefit to use service.
